FCC Testing Sessions

Get your license or upgrade your privileges with our local Volunteer Examiners.

LARK only conducts in-person Federal Communications Commission (FCC) testing sessions immediately following the general club meetings on the 3rd Saturday of each month (excluding October and December). Note: We do not offer remote testing sessions.

1 Pre-Registration is Required

Step 1: Get your FRN

New applicants MUST register at the FCC CORES Website to receive an FCC Registration Number (FRN) prior to attending the test session. Social Security Numbers are no longer accepted.

Step 2: Register for Exam

Once you have your FRN, you must register for the specific LARK testing session on HamStudy.

3 What to Bring

  • HamStudy Registration Confirmation Bring an electronic copy or printed version of your registration.
  • Testing Device A laptop, tablet, or phone to take the test online.
  • Testing Fee: $15.00 Cash or Check (made out to American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC))
  • Your FRN Your exact 10-digit FCC Registration Number.
  • Legal Photo ID Passport, Driver's License, or US ID Card. If no photo ID is available, bring two alternatives (birth certificate, utility bill, etc.).
  • Upgrading? Bring a printed copy of your current amateur radio license and any valid Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE), plus a photocopy of each.
